About the Project

The Offaly Healthy Homes Project operates with the crucial goal of keeping people living independently in their own homes for as long as possible.

The service provides vital support across South and West Offaly, focusing on both nutritional and social needs of the older community.

The Dual Service Model

The Service Model: Meals and Social Connection

The project uses a dual approach to ensure comprehensive care:

  • Meals to the Door: For people who aren’t out and about, this means bringing meals directly to the door.
  • Social Spaces: Providing social spaces for people to enjoy a meal together, working to combat social isolation.

Services

Meals on Wheels & Kitchen Partners

  • Provides a Meals on Wheels service across South and West Offaly.
  • All of this work is carried out in conjunction with three community kitchen partners (Kilcomac, Ballycumber and Shinrone).
  • All kitchen partners are themselves social enterprises.

Social Inclusion & Independence

The project works to combat social isolation by bringing people together in a central place to enjoy a meal. The primary goal is ensuring people can continue living independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
